Random thoughts from an old guy

I see so many people posting other peoples stuff, of other peoples stuff and wonder how does this post relate to your life? Why can't you post an original article about whats going on in your life. Better yet, just forward that post you posted to your friends that would like it, instead of posting crap from other peoples crap that has already been posted. Then, are these posts that your are re-posting supposed to show how you feel about an issue, if so, tell us how you actually feel on a subject, instead of resposting a post that someone else has reposted, really, how about some original thoughts and content?

Big changes to the automotive industry- subscriptions and propriatary service work.

1) Subscriptions, very soon you will purchase a new car and when you want to use a feature of the car, you will have to get a monthly subscription to use it, I kid you not. Its already happening in limited use today, and will be fully in use by 2030.
Even though you bought the car with that feature built into it.

2) Repair work on your new car. This has already started with many companies, whereas you need to replace a seal on a transmission and the auto manufacture says, you have to get it replaced at a dealer, they no longer offer replacement parts for it, you have to buy a new one.

Manufacturers are currently trying to get a law passed that only repair work for a new car can only be done at a dealership. They will no longer support independant shops with repair guides and parts. Currently it takes 2 weeks to get a car repaired at a dealership, can you imagine how long it will be if they get this through?

I follow three automovive repair shops, two of which specialize in diesel truck engine repairs.
All of them are NOT recommending any vehicle to purchase after the year 2018, due to major issues in engine and transmissions. This includes all 2026 models as well. The vehicles are barely making 100K miles and engines and transmissions are completely failing.

For truck owners in the 250/350/450 class, they are recommending finding a older truck and rebuilding it as those trucks have now become more reliable and way less expensive to operate and repair work done on them, NO urea, and lower insurance costs.
Example
FORD 2005 F350 SuperDuty crew cab dually Lariat model. New in 2005 = 48K, in 2026 = 109K.
Complete overhall today of a 2005 = around 40-50K. Lets face it, the older models were much better looking trucks with less electronic gizmo's on them and they have sturdier suspension systems as well.
